ZEPPELIN COLLECTORS MEETING AT APS STAMPSHOW, COLUMBUS, OH
We have some updates on the zeppelin collectors meeting at APS StampShow in Columbus, OH on Friday 12 August 2011 at 2 p.m. This is a show and tell so bring along something fun, something puzzling, something purchased at the show, or something with a good story!

Wir haben einige Neuigkeiten zu dem Treffen der Zeppelinpost-Sammler auf der APS StampShow in Columbus, OH am Freitag, den 12. August 2011 um 14 Uhr. Dies ist ein sogenanntes “show and tell”, zu dem man einen lustigen, interessanten, speziellen, einzigartigen oder einen auf der Ausstellung erworbenen Beleg mitbringt.

Das GPS Treffen findet in dem selben Raum statt, in dem sich die Zeppelinpost-Sammler getroffen haben. Das GPS Treffen beginnt um 15 Uhr und wird vom Luftpost- und Deutschland-Philatelie-Experten Jim Graue geleitet. On 24 July 1931, airship LZ-127 GRAF ZEPPELIN departed Friedrichshafen at 9.55 a.m. to fly to Berlin. It was the first leg of the famous Polar Flight. The next day the flight continued via Leningrad to Franz-Josephland to meet the Russian icebreaker Malyguin.

eZEPtalk – FASCINATING STORIES FROM THE ZEPPELIN BOARD
eZEPtalk.de member pasol published a fascinating cover on eZEPtalk.de: A Russian Polar Flight dispatch from the icebreaker Malyguin. A full set on cover dispatched on the Malyguin is quite a rarity, but this cover is even more – it bears the perforated Russian zeppelin stamps postmarked on board the Malyguin on 18 July 1931.

This cover was postmarked on 18 July 1931, a good week before the official first day of the perforated stamps on 24 July 1931, and it is so far the only recorded Malyguin dispatch with perforated stamps.

Is this a new discovery or what is the story behind it? We don’t know yet and the discussion is still going on….

Das Treffen findet am Samstag, den 30. Oktober 2010 um 14 Uhr im Mercure Hotel gleich neben der Messe statt. Treffpunkt ist ist die Tagungssuite Nummer 6 (TS6).

Neben einer allgemeinen Fragestunde zu Zeppelinpost wird es auch einen Vortrag von Dieter Leder zu dem Thema “Mischfrankaturen auf Zeppelinpost” geben.

Zu dem Treffen sind alle Zeppelinpostsammler und Interessenten herzlich eingeladen. Eine Anmeldung oder eine Mitgliedschaft ist nicht notwendig.
