Olympic Games 1936 Berlin and zeppelin airship LZ-129 Hindenburg

On 1 August 1936, the Olympic Games at Berlin, Germany were opened. On that occasion, airship LZ-129 HINDENBURG flew from Frankfurt to Berlin, it was the so called “Olympic Flight”. After circling over Berlin Olympic Stadium, the airship dropped the mail loaded at Frankfurt over Berlin Tempelhof airfield and flew back to Frankfurt. This was 75 years ago….

The illustrated cover was flown on that Olympic Flight 1936, it was dispatched at Prague, Czechoslovakia and came to Frankfurt where the special German Olympic postage was cancelled. Then the cover was flown by zeppelin to Berlin.
