75 years airport Flughafen Frankfurt Rhein Main

75 years ago, on 8 July 1936, Frankfurt Rhein Main airport was officially opened. A Junkers Ju 52 Auntie Ju / Tante Ju aiplane was the first aircraft to land at Frankfurt Rhein Main airport. Later on that day, airship LZ-129 HINDENBURG arrived at Frankfurt Rhein Main airport to make two round trips. Also airship LZ-127 Graf Zeppelin was expected to arrive at Frankfurt but could not land at the new airport and returned back to Friedrichshafen.

Transmitted mail from Belgium flown on LZ-129 HINDENBURG on the opening of the Frankfurt Rhein Main airport.

And do not forget, today is also the birthday of Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin, he was born on 8 July 1838…..
